CANDIDATES FOR CSEA LOCAL 830
Meet Our Team
Message from Kris Kalender, CSEA Local 830 Presidential Candidate:
For too long, our union operated under a system that left us stuck, disconnected, and struggling to move forward. But fortunately, a new approach built on teamwork, transparency, and member engagement, is already making a difference.
Now, it's time to take that progress to the next level as I announce my candidacy for CSEA Local 830 President.
When I was elected as a Vice President for CSEA Region 1, it was because of my commitment to advocating for our members, building real engagement, and getting positive results. But one of the most important lessons I've learned as a Vice President is that leadership is never about one person; it's about working together, lifting each other up, and ensuring every member has a voice in shaping our future. Now is the opportunity to bring those values I’ve learned to Local 830.
I'm not running alone. Every well-qualified member of our team is committed to fighting for our union, strengthening our workplace presence, and open communication. That is the true strength of a union. And now, more than ever, we must harness that power to rewrite our narrative and change a culture where management's disrespect and contempt for our membership has gone unchecked. That is your right as a member and our mission if you elect our team.
Our priority is protecting our benefits and jobs from any attempts to undermine them, whether you're active or retired.
Our goals are to:
Stand up for every single member with unwavering respect, dignity and tenacity
Defend our healthcare benefits and all contractual rights we came onto the job with, not just while employed but into retirement.
Secure a strong collective bargaining agreement for all members at NHCC
Secure state funding for NUMC and A. Holly Patterson Nursing Home
Empower and educate every member with clear and consistent dialogue and communication
Fight to secure Juneteenth and Eid as recognized County holidays
Establish a powerful Member Activation Team to mobilize and apply pressure on the County
Launch a Wellness Committee to support members in becoming their best selves, mentally, physically and emotionally
This is about more than an election; it's about the future of our union. But with unity, action, and commitment, we can ensure that it’s a union that works for everyone.
We are a group of strong, determined leaders who will not back down. Together, we will fight for what our members need across Nassau County.
Please vote for Team Kalender: Progress Through Unity on May 15th for CSEA Local 830.
