Lauri Vanderka
Candidate for Treasurer
Department of Public Works
I began working for the Nassau County Juvenile Detention Center in March of 2006. A year later I transferred over to the Nassau County Department of Public Works (DPW), working in the Human Resources Unit where I was always available to assist our members with various concerns and needs. The last nine years I’ve been in the Traffic Engineering Unit and continued to help members with their HR questions and concerns.
In 2021, I successfully ran for Unit Treasurer for DPW. Even though I was the Treasurer, every member in our Unit knew they could come to me with any issues they wanted to discuss and resolve. I make sure I am always available to each and every one of them. I have worked closely with my unit President, Rob Lotito, to build a structure that has spanned across all dpw locations and garages.
I am running on this team because I am tired of the lack of communication from the Local Board, and want to enhance our ability to stand up for the members. My goal as your Vice President and the goal of this entire TEAM is to assure our Union become a strong vocal force and UNITE as one, all of us – TOGETHER!
